CAT ALONEI was told during childhood that an outdoor cat will go away to die. My grandmother had several outdoor cats and when they never returned, she would tell me that they went away to die alone. This disturbed me somewhat because I always felt that there may have been something that could have been done to save it. The fact is that an outside cat is very vulnerable to dangerous situations such as being injured by another animal or getting hit by a car. Cats are also very good at hiding their pain. They prefer to be in a quiet place when they’re stressed or sick. So  do outdoor cats go away to die? I would say no but they will find a quiet place if they are ill or stressed.
